The Mariner's Daughter

Wow, what a nice place. Felt like living in a mansion. The long driveway, the entrance and the room itself were stunning. The building kept its old charm while still having modern elements like the rooms little kitchen. We enjoyed our stay!

Looking for the charm of a grand house from a prior era but with all the modern conveniences; then this is your space. Clean, and well-appointed with the right blend of older character and modern convenience. Pride of ownership shines through on this property.

It was very easy to get in and the space was open, clean, and comfortable! We woke up to birds chirping in the trees outside and also easily walked to downtown for dinner!

We had a great time and did lots of activities downtown, which was within easy walking distance. Sat out on the back deck both evenings too which was relaxing. It was a beautiful old home and we enjoyed it very much.

We stayed in Suite 4, a large room filled with natural light. We stayed for a week and could have stayed even longer, Lunenburg is lovely and staying in one of the gorgeous old homes that fill the town and dot the coast line really makes you feel right at home. The house is easy to find and the room is large and beautiful.

History of The Kinley House

The unique history of The Kinley House began in the 1800s. During that time, the property belonged to Reverend William Duff. The old farm lot extended from Green Street and ran through a swampy area until crossing Victoria Road. The lot continued up the hill until the back line of the Common Range Lots in Lunenburg. Following Reverend Duff’s death in 1888, the property was passed on to his heirs. The section of swamp and pasture lying between Victoria Road and Green Street was subdivided from the rest of the property. The Hon. John James Kinley, Member of Parliament & NS Senator, finally acquired the subdivided area in 1919. A large residence was built for him three years later, and it is now known as The Kinley House, having retained its heritage and charm.
